Welcome
Welcome to Summer Has Gone. This is an AU Game of Thrones site unlike anything you've seen before. We've added twelve new islands that are Kingdoms of their own - these will be a source of curiosity and fascination for the inhabitants of Westeros, and a source of conflict, as alliances are made and enemies are made. Also, this is JCINK Premium so certain characters have been aged up, as have events. We have also added in relatives to certain Houses, to make things more interesting.

So far, Rydia's plan was working out well. Things were going the way she had planned for them to go and she was hoping that it would continue down the path she had laid. Sending Aaron to his death had been easy. Most women would have cherished her husband as he was a good man. He had truly cared about her well being and had gone out of his way to make her feel comfortable in a household that was very different from the Lannisters. He had not forced himself upon her and had doted on her when they lost their children. He had been honorable and courageous in battle and any woman who had heard the horror stories of political marriages knew just how lucky Rydia had been.

But she had not been content in that life and she had never been. She had always yearned for a life of adventure and intrigue. One where she was free to cause trouble and to be devious without worrying about the political ramifications. She was not the only one to dream of a life where she had choices and freedom. It was actually quite common among those in their situation at least. They were not slaves. They were typically given responsibility over the household as long as the decisions also pleased their husbands. If they didn't risk political or social standings or cause a war, most of the women became content with their life as married women.

But not Rydia. She never could become content with such a lifestyle and she had started planning her escape from it the moment it became obvious she would be unable to kill Aaron before their nuptuals. She had made herself invaluable to him and showed him what it was that he was capable of. She made him look better in public, in front of his family. She gave him hope that he could be the person that he had always wished he could bad and most importantly, Rydia had made him feel as though he were an important member of not only his family but of the world.

Aaron had been a fool.

She had known that he had no value but by earning his trust and by making him feel loved, she was more easily able to acquire that which she needed when she ultimately convinced him to plan a battle that would lead to his death. Nothing she had done seemed out of step but when she ran from the house that had been there's, she made it look like she was taken. Rydia had clothes packed away that were not those which other's would recognize. She had a handful of jewels, easily explained as a desperate attempt to be able to pay her own ransom by shoving the precious materials down her dress should anyone become suspicious. The staff that came with her were now dead which is something pirates did all of the time.

Ah...to be a pirate, free on the waves.

She had always admired them from the first time she lived on the shore and could watch the ships sail by. There was no port or easy access from where she was but she could imagine the life of a pirate. They would go where they wanted, choosing from the places that were most rewarding to plunder. They would take what they wanted and it didn't matter if they were food, clothes, jewels or people. They would be taken at the pirate's discretion. If someone told her to silence her mouth or discredited her value because she lacked the male anatomy, she would simply be able to prove her value at the edge of a sword. And if she still felt a lesson needed to be learned, she could make them pay for that lesson with their lives.

That was why she stood on the dock as the night grew dark. No longer did the last sun rays reach desperately over the horizon and the sun barely peaked out from between the clouds. She had worked hard to be here at the end of this dock, unseen by others. If they saw her and if they spoke up, all of her plans would be for naught. She had to think logically and prepare for any situation and that meant that she had to be a convincing kidnappee and those didn't just stroll up to boats as she had done. She waited for the silent sailor to get his captain as she kept to the shadows in her dark blue dress and cape. Stay out of the light, get her place on the ship and make life hell. That is what was important.

personality

On the outside, Rydia is a perfect lady. She knows exactly how to behave around people and how to make people believe that she is a good person. She is not tripped up by the intricacies of court or the ramifications of political ties. She is smart but not just with books. SHe knows when to keep her knowledge quiet and when to speak up. The skill took years to perfect but with her particular family, it didn't take her very long. She is pleasant company and knows when to draw the line between risque and inappropriate humor. She can smile at anyone and make them believe that she likes them.

It is only the very few who see beneath the mask. The reality of Rydia is that she created a mask in order to survive. She likes knowledge as she believes it gives her options. Ways to be useful or know when someone is trying to mislead her. She puts up with people only because she knows that they might be useful down the road. She has plans for herself and they are not to fall in line with the family for her entire life but if in the process of making her dreams come true, she gets caught, she will not have a problem with throwing anyone who helped her under the wagon wheels. She is ambitious and smart but very few people are ever given the chance to really know who she is and she does not trust many people at all.

»

history

Rydia grew up in a Lannister household. Her father was high enough up that he was taken note of but not quite smart enough that anyone would feel threatened by him. She had one brother growing up, a disgusting and fowl boy who treated her as if she were meant to save him from getting into trouble. On numerous occasions, Rydia would find herself in some sort of trouble with her father because of some lie her brother had told. It was survival that taught her ways to outwit the dumb bastard and keep herself from getting into anymore trouble then was actually necessary. She had to learn to sneak around to escape the oppressive environment and became very good at opening doors without being heard. When her father sent her to live with relatives on the sea to learn to be a proper lady, she was more then a little relieved.

On the seaside, Rydia had thought her life would have more options but she had been very wrong. There were lessons in deportment and dance. She was taught to play an instrument and to read eloquently. Her writing was judged for both content and neatness of script. Her every action was evaluated and critiqued until she was a well polished lady. It was only a few weeks in that she realized she would be used to enhance her father's political standings and it irked her to know that her only value was the station she could bring to him. She would spend her evenings, reading tales of adventure and looking out at the sea wishing that she too could have the life she chose. When the night was clear and the moon was strong, she would sneak out the window and into a tree to climb to the highest heights and watch the seas.

And then came the day she was to meet the man she was to marry. She was only fourteen and he was a council to the top of the family. The young girl was obviously beautiful and the way she acted under such a high pressure situation impressed everyone. But as wedding plans were underway, her husband to be died of suspicious causes. Rydia did not know what the exact details were but to her ear, it sounded like poisoning. Possibly hemlock if her study of herbs had done her well. She was not upset. The man had disgusted her and the thought of marrying him had been mortifying. For a naive moment, Rydia had thought she would now be allowed to live the life that she wanted but soon, she would find herself betrothed to yet another man of a higher class. Older and more rotund, Rydia decided to take matters into her own hands this time. She would not allow fate to take his life. On the night before their wedding, she snuck into his room with a great deal of skill and more luck then she could have hoped for and slipped some poison into his drink.

He was dead before morning and she found a certain excitement in knowing what it was that she had gotten away with. No one suspected the sixteen year old girl of murder. After all, she wept for her fate of becoming an old maid should she not marry soon. When she was alone, she celebrated. Oh it was a short celebration because she was never alone for long but still. She had found a way to take control of her life and it brought her such pleasure that she could not contain herself.

And then the Baratheon family came to the Lannisters for help with their rebellion. They needed to unite and Rydia was a perfect vehicle to do so. It was a quick process and she had never been allowed to meet the Baratheon that she was to wed. The week before the marriage, for fear that someone would come for her this time, she was not alone for a moment. Before she knew it, she was married to Aaron Baratheon and shipped off to live at Storm's End.

Marriage was as boring as she had feared it would be. Aaron was not an interesting man by any means. He had no ambitions but was loyal to a fault. He fought hard but did not think himself capable of leadership. It was not long before she learned that this wedding was a way of giving him some push to take the reigns. The hope being that a wife and children to protect would add the fire for battle that the Baratheons seemed to like so much. Rydia saw an opportunity in Aaron to take control but from the back seat. He was so easily susceptible to suggestion, especially after speaking to any member of his family.

What she really enjoyed was when he was away. The servants questioned her less and went around her back less when they thought what she wanted for their home was inappropriate. Not everyone appreciated the Lannister way of life, she supposed, but she was building something with Aaron as her puppet. In some ways, she enjoyed being pregnant but hated giving birth and having a baby to care for. Aaron loved the little things and was always devastated when they died (without any help from Rydia) but Rydia always was able to use that as a reason for him to enter into another battle, a way of honoring their children.

Honestly, she knew Aaron was a good man and she was actually lucky to have him as her husband but she never really liked him, let alone loved him. Rydia had been able to get so much information on him about the rebellion and about the politics during pillow talk that she saw the shift in the rebellion before he did. She knew the end was coming and she began preparing for it while he went out to fight. She did not tell him about her fears until it became apparent that he saw it too and opened up to her about it. She feigned the good wife when she sent him out to his final fight, a battle that was so poorly planned she knew there was no way he could return, and she left with a few of the loyal servants she had put in place over the years.

There was only one thing she wanted, freedom. She did not want to belong to a husband and she certainly didn't want to live his Aaron's family or her own. She had more then enough money and jewels to keep her living well for many years if not the remainder of her life. But a life of solitude and calm did not work for her. After promising her servants a reward and freedom to find a new life, one of them led her to a perfect hiding place for her stash of wealth. She was so honored to have known them and to have them be loyal to her in their lives that she made sure they were loyal in death too, poisoning them when they reached rumored place of one of the greatest pirates. She had a plan, she always had a plan and she was ready to see what a pirate's life could be.
